CWTS Final Project.

The world nowadays is slowly dying off. Resources are being depleted at a rapid rate while our environment is deteriorating at a very quick pace. Animal populations either go out of control or are threatened with extinction. Our home is at risk, but that doesn't mean it's a hopeless situation. We can mitigate or if possible, remedy the damages to the Earth in order for the planet to remain habitable.

1.Climate Change

Lately our weather and climate have gotten quite unpredictable. This is partially due to the greenhouse gases are emitted from most things that we use on our daily lives (such as car fuel, air conditioners, etc..) These greenhouse gases damage the Earth's Ozone Layer which protects us from ultraviolet rays from the Sun. As a result, the Earth has gotten quite hot that it affects the climate, not only that, it's slowly affecting colder areas like Antarctica as well as slowly increasing the sea level.

A simple solution to mitigate the damage is to lessen the usage of fossil fuels that produce greenhouse gases. Nowadays, vehicular technology has advanced to the point that we have electric cars or hybrid cars that do lessen the amount of greenhouse gases produced.

2.Natural Resources

The Earth's natural resources are also facing a greater risk nowadays. Climate Change and rampant deforestation have affected the population count of both Plant life and Animals in their habitats. Not only that, there are cases of Invasive species that drive the Native species to a corner due to their rapid population growth that it threatens their numbers instead.

One way to combat the problem is to try and raise some of the endangered animals in captivity in order to have their population slowly recover (i.e, the Philippine Eagle center that takes care of the birds until they're old enough to fend for themselves.
Another method is to confront those who hunt them illegally. Strict punishments have been implemented for poaching of endangered wildlife. We can also replant trees that have been cut down in order to maintain the population count.

3. Waste Disposal

Unsurprisingly, our ever increasing trash heaps have been slowly affecting our environment lately. Animals usually run to complications involving stray pieces of plastic in their lives (like a turtle with a straw in it's nostrils or a seal with a fishing line wrapped around it's neck) Disposing of plastic isn't easy as well ... burning it contributes to the Ozone Layer issue.

However, we can still work our way with this problem by limiting our usage of plastic bags, proper segregation and disposal of waste products and annual cleaning of areas with lots of garbage on them.
